THE SIRENS CABARET ENSEMBLE

Sirens, a female cabaret ensemble for female students in grades 7-12, focuses on vocal technique, song interpretation, and honing acting and performing skills. Small group lessons are scheduled once a week and the entire ensemble rehearses together once a week, under the direcioon of Andrea Bonamico. The Sirens will perform two Broadway cabarte style shows per year.

“Sirens” Cabaret Ensemble evolved from a combination of students from the Mad River Kids Chorale and Andrea Bonamico’s private voice students. The girls have been studying in small groups one day a week and then as an ensemble one day a week. The group chose the name for its reference to the mythical creatures in the story of Odysseus, whose voices were so beautiful that no one could resist them. "The small group lessons give us opportunity for more individual attention on their vocal technique tools and solo work including singing and acting techniques. The ensemble rehearsals give the singers opportunities for part singing and learning how to function as an individual within a group- an important part of being a well-rounded performer," says Andrea. "I've always believed that young people are some of our best story tellers and this group definitely proves that to be true- story telling through song is one of the most rewarding experiences whether you are a spectator or a participant."

For information about the next session of Sirens, call 496-4781 ext. 26, or check the Bundy Calendar on this website.

Rehearsals are at The Bundy Center for the Arts, Route 100 in Waitsfield, 2.3 miles south of Route 17.
